In Badaun, a young man accused of rape reportedly ingested poison within the premises of the district magistrate's office, as confirmed by local police. The individual, identified as Jitesh, was subsequently admitted to the district hospital, where he made serious allegations against Uttar Pradesh's Sugarcane Minister, Lakshmi Narayan Chaudhary, and his associate.
Background of the Case
Ankit, a resident of Chhibaukalan village in the Ughaiti police jurisdiction, revealed that a girl had filed a complaint against his brother Jitesh for sexual assault just four days prior.
Family's Defense
Jitesh's family claims that a video surfaced in which the girl did not mention Jitesh's name but instead spoke of a dispute with her sister. According to them, the girl's mother forcibly lodged a rape complaint against Jitesh.
Suicide Attempt
Distressed by the allegations, Jitesh visited the district magistrate's office and consumed a toxic substance, leading to his hospitalization. He accused Minister Lakshmi Narayan Chaudhary and his close associate Vijay Pal Singh Chaudhary of orchestrating false charges against him.
Official Responses
In response to the allegations, Vijay Pal denied any involvement in the case against Jitesh, asserting that neither he nor Minister Chaudhary had any connection to the legal proceedings. The minister has yet to comment on the situation.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
District Magistrate Avnish Rai stated that he was in a meeting with local representatives when he learned about Jitesh's suicide attempt. The young man is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital, and his statement has been recorded by the deputy tehsildar. An investigation is underway.
Senior Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Singh noted that Jitesh faces multiple serious charges, including rape and gang-related offenses. The police were actively searching for him, and an additional case for attempted suicide in a public place will be filed. According to the SSP, Jitesh is receiving treatment under police custody and will be arrested once he recovers.
